Now We Are Six - A.A. Milne

When I was one I had just begun
When I was two I was nearly new

When I was three I was hardly me
When I was four I was not much more

When I was five I was just alive
But now I am six, I'm as clever as clever;

So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.

Found "...Six" today to write in the card of the eldest of the three in this particular family.
Thanks; your words were the correct ones, I feel

I copied the lovely A.A. Milne poem, which my mother had first read to me, for my beloved first grandson for the occasion of his sixth birthday.

One of my favorate peotry books as a kid. The best one is King John's Christmas. I made my mother read that over and over again.

My wife and I bought a cabin on an island in Puget Sound and the last line of the poem was painted on the floor of the kitchen in a circle. We think it is one of the most unique things about the house and point it out to everyone who come to visit. Bill

This poem was printed on a remembrance tableau for a six year old boy who died in an accident. He was from my kid's daycare. It was heartbreaking to read the poem in such a context. This little boy will be six for ever and ever.......

My favourite poem. It was my first public recital poem when I was six. And now I'm almost forty...
